DOMAINS
Domain Name is what is used to point to your website, www.yourdoman.com . Typically you try to get a domain name that represents your business, as an example ours is www.GraphiXWebDesign.com . Domain names need to be renewed annually - we charge $9.95 a year for domain names.
2) How do I register my domain name?
You will notice a "Domain Check" search box on the top right of most of your pages on this website. You can search for your domain name and register one once your find one you like. You may tell us what you want or follow the directions as you search and register one through our Sister company "Digital Domain Sales" www.digitaldomainsales.com
3) I already registered my domain elsewhere, how do I set it up for Digital Backups web hosting? - Name Server Setup
You can register your domain name with any register service, although most of our customers register it through us for convenience and our excellent prices.
If you register the domain elsewhere you will need to change the DNS name servers to point to our servers;
ns1.digitalbackups.net 173.213.88.243 (IP address if needed)
ns2.digitalbackups.net 74.208.127.49 (IP address if needed)
4) 2 names pointing to one website?
YES, you can have multiple domains pointing to your website. It is called an Alias domain and we can set this up for you at no charge. You can also have Alias email domains where

would both be one email account.
HOSTING
Once you have a domain name you will need somewhere to host your website files so people on the internet can find you. Where a domain name is like a street address, web hosting is like the building at that address. We lease our own email and web servers built especially to host websites on the internet which gives us more control and allows us to keep our prices extremely competitive.
2) What can I do with the Hosting Panel?What can I do with the Hosting Panel?
For Advance Users we offer a hosting panel, but since we are a full service company offering excellent customer service all you need to do is call us and we will be happy to make changes for you.
Our Web Hosting accounts include "Website Panel" Hosting Panels which allow you to add/delete new email accounts, ftp users, manage FrontPage extensions, and more. your can reach your hosting panel by going to http://panel.yourdomain.com
1) How do I setup Outlook/Outlook Express?
You can use SMTP/POP or if setting up a phone IMAP.
Incoming & Outgoing Servers - mail.yourdomain.com
Login - your FULL email address.
Password - as given.
Make sure under "More Settings" or "Advance Settings" you set the following;
- Outgoing Server requires authentication - Same as Incoming
- Under the Advance Tab - Change Outgoing SMTP Server from 25 to 26 port
Changing from 25 to 26 port is because your internet provider (ISP) may block port 25 from any other email servers except theirs to control SPAM being sent out from their networks, if you do not change to port 26 you will have to use your ISP outgoing email server and login info to send email.
2) How do I access my Web Mail?
There is many options and settings available under your WebMail, you can access it by;
http://mail.digitalbackups.com or http://mail.YOURDOMAIN.com
Login: your FULL email address
Password: as we have given you.
3) I can receive email but can't send emails - what did I do wrong?
Typically the issue is one of the two items below;
Make sure under "More Settings" or "Advance Settings" you set the following;
4) I am having issues with SPAM, what can I do?

Generally 99.9% of SPAM: HIgh is JUNK- If you are having problems with SPAM you can make adjustments in your WebMail Panel or call us and we will work with you to fine tune your incoming email checks.

will send email to everyone on the list as well as it can also be setup so any replies are sent to everyone on the list.
7) What is Grey Listing, and why does Digital Backups use it?
We have been using Grey Listing for 2 years with GREAT Success, basically Grey Listing rejects each email once forcing it to be resent, Valid emails will be resent at which time that email address is put on a safe sender list for 1 year avoiding being rejected again, but INVALID email servers will not resend - This method alone has cut 95% of SPAM emails from ever making it to our clients email boxes. In the 2 years we have used Grey Listing we have only had one incident of a valid email not coming through - this was from a Fax to Email Service, we were able to put this service in our Safe Sender list manually to resolve this problem.
